[Emergencies in colorectal diseases. Conclusions]

Recent diagnostic procedures, such as CT scan and US, are nowadays changing the approach of colonic pathologies like bleeding and large bowel obstruction. The opportunity offered by those means are increasing the preference for primary resection-anastomosis treatment in emergency colonic surgery for selected patients. On the other hand the progress in surgical management allows curative resection with low mortality and morbidity rates.
