Area of Science:

  • Genetics
  • Human Biology
  • Medical Science

Background:

  • Double aneuploidy, the presence of two distinct chromosomal abnormalities in one individual, is uncommon.
  • Down syndrome (Trisomy 21) and Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY) are distinct genetic conditions.
  • Mosaicism, where an individual has cell populations with different karyotypes, can influence phenotypic expression.
