Whole systems shared governance: creating the seamless organization
Abstract:
In the last decade, over 1,000 U.S. hospitals implemented a shared governance organizational design for nursing departments. However, no new or existing structure is permanent. Whole systems shared governance creates a transitional model for ownership at all levels of the organization. It reflects accountability at every level and creates a seamless structure directed towards providing health service to its community.
