Background:

Purtilo's syndrome, or X-linked lymphoproliferative syndrome (XLP), is a rare genetic disorder.
XLP causes immunodeficiency specifically towards Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), leading to severe EBV-related complications.
Common XLP manifestations include severe infectious mononucleosis, lymphoma, hypogammaglobulinemia, and pancytopenia.
