Summary

Lithium therapy can cause skin reactions, including a rare follicular eruption. This case highlights a patient who developed a widespread rash linked to lithium, which resolved after discontinuing the medication.

Findings:

  • Histological examination of skin lesions revealed perifollicular inflammation and follicular plugging.
  • The patient's skin condition improved after lithium withdrawal.
  • This case adds to the documented cutaneous reactions associated with lithium.

Implications:

  • This report emphasizes the importance of considering lithium-induced follicular eruptions in patients on this medication.
  • Further investigation into the pathogenic mechanisms of lithium-induced dermatoses is warranted.
