[Factors of autoantibody level variations in the human population]
Abstract:
The specific features of level distribution of autoantibodies to a wide range of structurally different autoantigens in the blood sera of healthy individuals and patients with various infectious and non-infectious diseases and the general guidelines for formation of a humoral autoimmune phenotype were studied. Autoantibodies were found in the sera of all the examined patients and healthy individuals, their levels were of high population variation that was determined by the predominant influence of non-hereditary variability factors. The expression of a humoral autoimmune phenotype was determined by the morphofunctional state of the immune system, the hormonal status of an individual and his/her general physiological condition (the presence of disease). In the latter case, the type of a nosological entity, variant and clinical and laboratory features of the course of a pathological process, and effects of drug therapy greatly affected the population distribution of autoantibody levels. The role of the major histocompatability complex of sexual hormones in the determination of a humoral autoimmune phenotype proved insignificant.
