Summary

Echinococcal cysts can mimic cardiac tumors, presenting a potentially fatal condition if left untreated. Surgical resection offers a low-risk, effective treatment for this rare cardiac anomaly.

Background:

Cardiac tumors are rare, with diverse etiologies.
Echinococcosis is a parasitic infection that can rarely affect the heart.

Observation:

A 32-year-old man presented with cardiac symptoms and was found to have a myocardial mass.
Imaging revealed a 4x3x3 cm tumor in the right ventricle.

Findings:

Surgical exploration identified the mass as an echinococcal cyst, not a primary myocardial tumor.
Postoperative serology (ELISA, IHA) confirmed echinococcal infection.
The patient remained symptom-free for two years after albendazole treatment and cyst resection.
