Abstract:
From the laser prostatectomies the author compares the parameters of his 9 patients treated with eye controlled, non-contract, side firing Nd:YAG laser with randomly selected 9 patients undergoing transurethral resection of prostate. He values the effectiveness of the method by measuring the flow and the residual volume. He follows the changes in the complains of the patients with the International Prostate Symptom Score. He also presents the days of the hospital care and the economical rates of treatment. According to the results he points out that the applied laser method has the ability to relieve the symptoms of bladder outlet obstruction caused by the benign hyperplasy of prostate. Resulting from the mini-invasive quality of the laser treatment it is suitable above all for high risk group of patients. In the author's opinion the laser treatment could be an alternative to the traditional transurethral prostatectomy.
