    Area of Science:

    • Anesthesiology
    • Pharmacology

    Background:

    • Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is a method of anesthesia delivery.
    • Propofol, alfentanil, and atracurium are commonly used anesthetic agents.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess the efficacy and control of TIVA using propofol, alfentanil, and atracurium.
    • To evaluate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic control of TIVA in high-risk surgical patients.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 15 patients with ASA III-IV classification received TIVA.
    • Drug dosages and infusion techniques were described.
    • Respiratory and cardiocirculatory parameters were monitored.

    Main Results:

    • Reduced dosages of propofol (4-5 mg/kg/h) and alfentanil (1-1.5 mg/h) were effective in maintaining anesthesia.

    Related Experiment Videos

  • Prophylaxis against operative stress was rated as very good.
  • TIVA with this drug combination demonstrated excellent controllability.
  • Conclusions:

    • TIVA with propofol, alfentanil, and atracurium provides a controllable anesthetic technique.
    • This combination is suitable for patients with increased anesthesiological risk.
    • The study supports the use of TIVA for improved anesthetic management.
