This study reports a potential drug interaction between warfarin and fluvastatin. Patients taking warfarin experienced increased international normalized ratios (INRs) after starting fluvastatin, requiring warfarin dose adjustments.
Area of Science:
- Pharmacology
- Clinical Medicine
- Drug Interactions
Background:
- Warfarin is a widely used anticoagulant.
- Statins are commonly prescribed for hyperlipidemia.
- Previous interactions between warfarin and lovastatin have been noted.
