    Area of Science:

    • Neurology
    • Radiology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Intracranial aneurysms are a significant cause of cerebrovascular disease.
    • Understanding the epidemiology of intracranial aneurysms is crucial for diagnosis and treatment.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of intracranial aneurysms.
    • To identify demographic patterns and prevalence of multiple aneurysms.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of angiographic studies.
    • Analysis of data from 141 patients diagnosed with intracranial aneurysms between 1962 and 1974.
    • Data collected from the Pathology and Radiology Departments of the "20 of November Hospital".

    Main Results:

    • A total of 178 intracranial aneurysms were identified in 141 patients.
    • A female-to-male ratio of approximately 2:1 was observed.
    • Multiple aneurysms were present in 16.8% of patients.
    • The fifth decade of life showed a higher incidence of aneurysms.

    Conclusions:

    • Intracranial aneurysms demonstrate a predilection for females.
    • The fifth decade is a peak period for aneurysm occurrence.
    • Multiple aneurysms are a notable finding in a subset of patients.
