Summary

Serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) levels are elevated in cholestatic liver diseases like primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) and extrahepatic cholestasis. Increased sICAM-1 accurately predicts advanced PBC stages and may be eliminated via bile.
