Summary

Histopathology in giardiasis is often inconspicuous, requiring thorough examination of all small-bowel biopsies for the parasite. Giardiasis does not appear to be linked to specific gastric diseases like chronic atrophic gastritis.

  • Giardia trophozoites were detected in duodenal (82.5%), ileal (12.1%), and gastric antral (8.7%) mucosa, but rarely in the jejunum (2.1%) or colon (0.4%).
