Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate RV performance in patients with postrheumatic mitral stenosis.
  • To assess the impact of balloon valvuloplasty (BV) on RV function.

  • RV volumes and ejection fraction were measured using thermodilution in 24 MS patients before and after BV.
  • Measurements were taken at rest and during supine bicycle exercise (50W).
