This study reports a rare case of storage pool disease in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Despite absent platelet dense granules and impaired aggregation, the patient maintained normal platelet force development, challenging existing theories.

Area of Science:

  • Hematology
  • Oncology
  • Platelet Biology

Background:

  • Bleeding complications are common in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), often linked to thrombocytopenia or clotting factor inhibitors.
  • CLL-associated thrombocytopenia results from decreased production and immune destruction, increasing hemorrhagic risk.
