Transference and regression in and beyond analytic group psychotherapy: revisiting some timeless thoughts

In this article the author reconsiders the ideas of Durkin and Glatzer (1973/1997) on the process of transference and the function of regression in dyadic and group treatment in light of developments in contemporary analytical theory and practice. Transference is reexamined theoretically as a function of internal psychological processes. Transference regression are also considered in relation to the nature and treatment of character pathology.
