Summary
A novel transpalatal peroral technique was used to successfully remove a large parapharyngeal pleomorphic adenoma in a 75-year-old patient. This minimally invasive approach provided excellent surgical access and complete tumor excision with reduced patient morbidity.
Area of Science:
- Otorhinolaryngology
- Head and Neck Surgery
- Surgical Oncology
Background:
- Parapharyngeal space tumors can be challenging to access surgically.
- Pleomorphic adenomas are the most common benign tumors in the parapharyngeal space.
- Minimally invasive surgical techniques are sought for improved patient outcomes.
