Summary

Interstitial fibrosis and mononuclear cell infiltration in IgA nephropathy kidneys are common. These tubulointerstitial changes are significant prognostic factors for disease progression.

  • Analysis of 74 IgA nephropathy kidney biopsy specimens using light microscopy (LM), immunofluorescence (IF), and electron microscopy (EM).
  • Histopathologic examination revealed interstitial fibrosis as the most frequent finding, followed by mononuclear cellular infiltration, particularly in cases with severe glomerular damage.
