[Cardiac natriuretic peptides as markers of left ventricular dysfunction]
Summary
B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a better screening tool for left ventricular (LV) impairment than atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) or its N-terminal fragment (pro-ANF). However, the diagnostic value of these biomarkers for mild LV dysfunction remains modest.
