[Differentiating parathyroid adenoma from microfollicular thyroid nodule in fine-needle aspiration cytology]

Two cases of fine needle aspiration cytology of parathyroid adenoma were not misinterpreted as microfollicular nodules of the thyroid. Discrimination of those two lesion is a diagnostic pitfall in cytological material. Authors pointed out criteria for differential diagnosis. Radioimmunoanalysis of parathormone in aspirate served as a simple, safe and reliable method in these cases.
