    Summary

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the placental transfer and fetal excretion of anthraquinone laxatives.
    • To determine if fetal exposure leads to catharsis.

    • Despite fetal exposure, catharsis does not appear to occur, suggesting fetal gastrointestinal immaturity or other protective mechanisms.
