Abstract:
Steps for facilitating management include: 1) identification and referral of patients with a nonmechanical cause of pain, such as cancer or an aortic aneurysm; 2) matching the analgesic agent and the mobilization schedule to the patient's condition and pace of recovery; 3) referring patients whose condition may require surgery; 4) and caring for the remaining patients who have chronic pain.
