Porcine malignant hyperthermia. III: Adrenergic blockade

Summary

Alpha-adrenergic blockade with phentolamine prevented fatal malignant hyperthermia (MH) in pigs challenged with suxamethonium. However, reserpine and beta-blockade did not prevent MH, indicating alpha-adrenergic receptors play a role in MH susceptibility.
