This study suggests a potential link between occupational electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Higher EMF exposure levels were associated with increased odds of developing ALS in this case-control study.

- For subjects with at least 20 years of work experience, the odds ratio (OR) for high EMF exposure (75th percentile) was 7.5 for E1 (P < 0.02) and 5.5 for E2 (P < 0.02).
- For all subjects, ORs for high EMF exposure were 2.5 for E1 (P < 0.1) and 2.3 for E2 (P = 0.12).
Conclusions:
- This hypothesis-generating study indicates a potential association between occupational EMF exposure and ALS.
- Further research with larger sample sizes, incident cases, and refined exposure assessment is warranted to confirm these findings.
