Nurse-led asthma clinic in an Asian community
1Idle Medical Centre, Bradford.
Abstract:
Manningham Airways was a multidisciplinary project to improve asthma care in an inner city area with a high ethnic population. Running between January 1994 and December 1995, it involved a nurse-led community clinic with direct referrals from local GPs for assessment, diagnosis, education and treatment recommendation. The evaluation demonstrated an improvement in the standard of care. There were also roadshows and talks organised to raise awareness and acceptability of the diagnosis of asthma in the ethnic community.
