Abstract:
It is established that most colostomies which lead to prolapse because of imperfect operative technique are shaped like a truncated cone. Mathematical-physical considerations show mechanisms which in such cases can produce prolapse of the colostomy. Considering these criteria and recent clinical experience, a suitable colostomy is described.
