Purpose of the Study:

  • 18 male subjects underwent 5 days of 6-degree head-down bed rest.
  • Experimental group (n=12) performed 90 min/day of lower extremity exercise; control group (n=6) did not.
  • Electromyographic (EMG) activity of leg muscles was measured during walking before and after BR.

  • The exercise protocol implemented was ineffective in counteracting the detrimental effects of bed rest on postural control.
