Abstract:
The author reviews new understanding of the etiology of panic disorder, particularly as it involves factors across the life span and across multiple presentations. In light of this perspective, he discusses treatment implications. He also emphasizes the necessity of increased efforts at case finding, and concludes by suggesting directions for future clinical and research strategies.
