Summary

Idiopathic retinal venous beading can cause recurrent preretinal hemorrhage. This case report highlights that such bleeding may occur without retinal ischemia or neovascularization.

Observation:

  • A case report of a 17-year-old female with bilateral idiopathic retinal venous beading.
  • The patient experienced recurrent preretinal hemorrhage in the left eye.

Findings:

  • Standard blood tests and hemoglobin electrophoresis were normal.
  • Fluorescein angiography revealed no retinal capillary nonperfusion or neovascularization.

Implications:

  • Idiopathic retinal venous beading may be linked to recurrent preretinal hemorrhage.
  • This association can exist even without signs of retinal ischemia or neovascularization.
