    Summary

    Activated charcoal effectively adsorbs many drugs in vitro, but its efficacy in patients is reduced by factors like mucus and other substances. Therefore, activated charcoal may not be beneficial for patients ingesting poorly adsorbed drugs.

    • To compare the in vitro adsorption capacities of 12 different drugs on activated charcoal.
    • To evaluate the influence of pH on drug adsorption.

    • Drug adsorption was measured at specific pH (1.3 and 10.8) and temperature (37°C).
