Prescribed drugs and iatrogenic disease
1Homerton School of Health Studies and Nurse Education, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.
Abstract:
Prescribed drugs can cause side-effects and adverse reactions and can interact with other medications. Factors such as age, disease and idiosyncratic responses can cause drug intolerance in some people. Nurses must be able to provide patients with appropriate information to ensure the safe administration of their drugs.
