Pica and the obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders

Summary

Pica may be part of the obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) spectrum. Some patients with pica showed compulsive or impulsive behaviors and responded to serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SRIs), suggesting a link to OCD spectrum disorders.
