Traditional hernia repair methods can involve significant recovery times and relapse rates.

Purpose:

To evaluate the efficacy and patient outcomes of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair using a prolene net.
To compare the tension-free prolene net method with classical surgical procedures.
To assess the long-term relapse rates and cost-effectiveness of the TransAbdominalPrePeritoneal (TAPP) approach.

Summary:

The TransAbdominalPrePeritoneal (TAPP) method for laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, utilizing a prolene net, was performed in 639 cases.
This tension-free approach resulted in significantly reduced pain, faster convalescence, and a lower relapse rate (0.6%) compared to classical methods.
The TAPP method demonstrated cost-effectiveness by reducing hospital stay duration and work incapacity.

Impact:

The TAPP method with a prolene net provides a less painful, more cost-effective, and highly successful treatment for inguinal hernias.
