Lactate-induced panic attacks increase atrial natriuretic hormone (ANH) levels, a hormone that may inhibit sympathetic activity and cortisol release, potentially explaining panic attack symptoms. This study compared autonomic and neuroendocrine responses in panic disorder patients and controls.
