Long-term sequential changes in exercise capacity and chronotropic responsiveness after cardiac transplantation

Cardiac transplant recipients show improved exercise capacity one year post-surgery. However, heart rate response remains abnormal, with no significant improvement in chronotropic responsiveness or exercise capacity up to five years. This suggests limited functional cardiac reinnervation occurs after transplantation.
