Summary

Epiretinal membrane surgery can rarely cause juxtafoveal choroidal neovascularization. Prompt diagnosis and argon laser treatment led to successful visual recovery in this case.

Observation:

  • A rare case of juxtafoveal choroidal neovascularization (CNV) occurred two years post-ERM surgery.
  • The patient experienced a relapse of symptoms and poor visual outcome.

Findings:

  • Argon laser photocoagulation effectively treated the juxtafoveal CNV.
  • Complete obliteration of neovascularization led to functional visual improvement.
