Abstract:
Chicken heterophils are known to lack myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity. In this paper, evidence is presented to show that chicken heterophils and adherent cells contain a DNA sequence that is homologous to segment 10 of the human MPO gene; histochemical staining and microplate assay also show that heterophils and adherent cells contain MPO activity.
