[Amputation of a lower extremity. Nursing care]

Explored here are the types of nursing interventions that have been used for patients with lower limb amputations. A general discussion of why amputations are performed, as well as types and levels, is presented. The phases of pre-op., post-op., and discharge are explained, with special emphasis on patient positioning and prosthesis care.
