Summary

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) RNA is significantly higher in lymph node tissue than in cells. Antiretroviral therapy rapidly reduces HIV-1 RNA in both compartments, indicating effective viral load control.

Area of Science:

  • Virology
  • Immunology
  • Infectious Diseases

Background:

  • Lymph nodes (LNs) are critical reservoirs for Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1).
  • Understanding HIV-1 RNA dynamics within lymph node compartments is crucial for assessing viral burden and treatment efficacy.
