[Suppressive hormonal therapy for thyroid nodule. Theoretical bases and practical modalities]

Thyroxin therapy appears to reduce the size of some thyroid nodules, but this reduction cannot be considered to be proof of benignity. Whether or not thyroid hormone is useful to prevent recurrence after hemithyroidectomy is still debated. After thyroidectomy for cancer, suppression of TSH has to be adjusted to carcinologic prognosis.
