Two young horses developed persistent hyperammonemia, a condition of high blood ammonia. Diagnostic tests suggested a possible inherited disorder, hyperornithinemia, hyperammonemia, and homocitrullinuria (HHH) syndrome, due to a defective urea cycle enzyme.
