Abstract:
Reperfusion therapy offers the best chance for reducing mortality if given as early as possible. Hence, the diagnosis of acute MI should be made, the indications for reperfusion confirmed, and the therapy started within half an hour of patient presentation to the emergency room. Later, pharmacologic measures, such as intravenous beta-blockers and ACE inhibitors, may reduce mortality even further.
