[Relationship of blood oxygenation and magnetic resonance signal frequency changes]
Abstract:
Higher blood oxygenation leads to a linear diminution of NMR signal frequency from blood protons. Theoretical calculations are in agreement with the experimental suggestion that the magnetic moment of the Hem is equal to 5.35 M delta. This effect may be used to measure blood oxygenation in the human tissues and the extracorporeal systems.
