Summary

Elevated alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels in amniotic fluid (AF) indicate potential fetal abnormalities. Higher AFP levels and positive acetylcholinesterase (AChE) tests significantly increase the risk of NTDs and other congenital conditions.
