  • To assess the effects of morphine on corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG).
  • To understand how morphine alters corticosterone bioavailability.

  • Adult male rats were administered morphine pellets.
  • Corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG) levels were measured.
  • Naltrexone was used to block morphine effects.

  • Morphine caused a 160% naltrexone-preventable increase in CBG.
