[Testing two simple photometers (Lange) for use in small animal practice (author's transl)]

Abstract:
Two simple photometers were tested for their suitability for use in veterinary practice. Determinations of haemoglobin, glucose and total serum protein were studied using specially designed testing kits. The methods were found to be rapid, simple and reliable. Comparison of the results with those obtained using known standard methods showed a satisfactory correlation for haemoglobin and total serum protein. The results obtained on determination of glucose showed some minor differences which were possibly due to the different chemical methods used. Instruments as well as the methods used in testing are recommended.
