Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is linked to oral and tonsil cancers in non-drinkers/smokers. P53 gene mutations correlate with heavy alcohol and tobacco use, but neither HPV nor p53 mutations predict survival, except for HPV in tonsil cancers.
