Abstract
Objective:
To study the risk and benefits of using compination-type oral contraceptives (COC) for diseases.
Method:
Meta-analysis was used to estimate the summary relative risk (SRR) for diseases.
Results:
The SRR for cardiovascular diseases was > 1 (P < 0.05). The SRR for endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer were < 1 (P < 0.05).
Conclusion:
COC may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and may protect from endometrial and ovarian cancer.
