Summary

Late-onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) symptoms are often mild. A rapid ACTH test revealed a normal 17-hydroxypregnenolone to 17-hydroxyprogesterone ratio in females with hirsutism, suggesting lower CAH incidence.

Purpose:

  • To evaluate serum levels of 17 alpha-hydroxy pregnenolone (17P5) and 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone (17P4) after ACTH stimulation.

  • Ten healthy Japanese females (18-29 years) received dexamethasone and an ACTH injection.
