[Spontaneous bladder perforation secondary to bladder candidiasis]

Summary

A bladder perforation caused by a fungal infection (candida) occurred in a patient with a urinary catheter for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This case highlights the risks associated with long-term catheter use and fungal infections.

Background:

Urinary tract infections, particularly candidiasis, are a known complication in patients with indwelling urinary catheters.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) frequently necessitates long-term catheterization, increasing the risk of secondary complications.

Observation:

A spontaneous vesical perforation was observed in a patient with a history of indwelling catheter use for BPH.
The perforation was found to be secondary to a severe vesical candidiasis.

Findings:

The study analyzes the specific etiological factors contributing to both BPH-related catheterization and subsequent fungal bladder infection.
Clinical presentation, diagnostic methods, and effective management strategies for spontaneous bladder perforation and candidiasis are detailed.
